Up on Mount Subasio is the hermitage, a little convent built on top of the grotto of Saint Francis.

On the way to the valley, the convent San Damiano. In the little Church, Saint Francis received his
vocation: "Francis, don't you see my Church is falling apart? Stand up and rebuild my house."

   

Down in the valley the sanctuary of Saint Mary Queen of the Angels,
built in the XVIth century to protect
the Porziuncola crape, once the heart of the first community of Minor Friars.
Close to this chapel Francis died in 1226.
